Review - Nothin' But Granola Cookies

Brand:  Nothin’ But
Flavor:  Cherry Cranberry Almond Granola Cookies
Where to get it: here @ NothinButFoods.com

I had these sitting in my review pile for sooooo loooooong because I just felt like I wasn’t in the mood for a seed and nuts pile like, ever. I finally made myself eat them and oh my, how wrong I was! These are literally cookies. I wish the package had only some way to tell me that they were actual, real cookies…oh. Crap. There’s that word, right on the package. Why did I disregard it? Why didn’t I trust Nothin’ But? Has it ever led me astray? Has it ever betrayed my tiny trust? Nope. And it still hasn’t.
These taste like oatmeal cookies with dried cherries in them, which I want to run to my kitchen and hurry up and make for every party I go to now. They are so delicious. And you know what? The 2-pack of cookies says Serving Size: 1. FINALLY, a company with realistic rules. There’s just no way I’m not eating both of these once the package is open. Try these immediately.

Review - Raw Fusion Almond Berry Bar

Brand:  SAN Nutrition
Flavor:  Raw Fusion Almond Berry Bar
Where to get it: here @ Sann.net

Let’s start with the positives on this bar, shall we? It’s vegan (yay bunnies!), the ingredient list is full of good things (broccoli, spinach, almonds), and it has 15g of plant-based protein per bar. As far as taste goes, I found it a little iffy to begin with, and the more I chewed, the worse it got.  The strongest flavors are berry and sesame (there are sesame seeds in it), and they are marginal at best, but I just couldn’t get past the texture.

Review - Zing Bar

Brand:  Zing Bar
Flavor:  Almond Blueberry
Where to get it: here @ ZingBars.com

A bar is a bar is a bar…how to choose? If this Zing bar is available in your pile of choices, I highly recommend that you give it a go. This bar has real blueberry taste, like when you mix fresh blueberries into pancake batter. The almonds mellow out the grains and create a really great mix in this bar. It’s also uncrushable, so it’s great on the go to throw in a purse or backpack – especially if you’re like me, and bars roll around in your purse for a couple weeks before you remember that they’re there, usually smashed into oblivion.

Review - Rusterbar

Brand:  Rusterbar
Flavor:  Dried Cherry & Almond
Where to get it: here @ Rusterbar.com

Most of us NEED the caffeine. We LOVE the caffeine. We don’t want to ever be caught without the caffeine. I too, am this way, so I was quite intrigued when I saw that this Rusterbar had as much caffeine (through guarana) as a cup of coffee. I didn’t taste much of the cherries in this bar, but the almonds play a big part in its construction. I feel like maybe some almond extract could have really made this bar sing, but without it I found this to be a pretty unremarkable way to take in almost 200 calories. This one is a skip for me.

Review: Pistol Whipped Pastry Gluten-Free Almond Chocolate Granola Bar

Brand:  Pistol Whipped Pastry
Flavor:  Gluten-Free Almond Chocolate Granola Bar
Where to get it: here @ Pistol Whipped Pastry

What a tiny, delicious miracle this turned out to be! It’s oat-y, it’s sweet, it’s stinkin’ DELICIOUS. Small but mighty, this is unlike any granola bar that I have ever had. It’s pretty sticky, so I ate it poking out of its tiny wrapper. I was very surprised at how filling this bar was for its size, but you will not be disappointed. It reminded me more of a cookie than a granola bar, which tend to be harder and drier. The chocolate is more of an undertone, which suits me just fine. This looks to me to be a small company offering various concoctions depending on ingredient availability; I definitely recommend checking their website regularly to see what they’ve cooked up!

Review: 2 Degrees Cherry Almond Food Bar

Brand:  2 Degrees
Flavor:  Cherry Almond
Where to get it: here @ 2 Degrees Food

Cherries and charity, this bar is a dynamic duo – but no one has to be the Robin. Not only does this Batman & Batman bar taste great, but 2 Degrees also donates meals to hungry children around the word. You can feed yourself while you feed a child who needs your help, what a fantastic business model. The bars have great taste, and aren’t overtly “seedy”, so you can actually taste the featured flavors. The bar I had was full of sweet and subtly tart cherries and I really enjoyed it. It’s dense enough that it won’t disintegrate in your pack or purse too, so have bar may travel, my diabetic and active lifestyle friends!
