Review - Snap Infusion Supercandy Jelly Beans

Brand:  Snap Infusion
Flavor:  Super Candy - Beans
Where to get it: here @ SnapSuperCandy.com

If you wanted some jelly beans, and you found out that you could eat jelly beans AND get whammy loads of vitamins at the same time, why would you NOT eat those jelly beans? I can’t think of a reason. Candy and nutrients, all wrapped up together. Smart.

Review - Wonky Kale & Coconut Snack

Brand:  Wonky
Flavor:  Green Garlic Kale & Coconut Snack
Where to get it: here @ Amazon.com

How do you distinguish yourself in the recently-released tide pool of kale snacks? You be as creative and delicious as Wonky, that’s how. Holy cow, what a treat. If you’ve tried other kale snacks and liked them, you HAVE to try these. I would even go so far as to recommend them to my coconut-hating friends (I don’t get it, but they exist). Eating these made me want to mix coconut and garlic together AT ALL TIMES. What a great combination that I have just never really thought of. These have just a bit of a kick to them, and just a bit of a sweet side as well. They’re crunchy and all balled up just waiting to be chewed into a delicious paste. They do have a pretty strong garlic after-breath situation going on, so no make out plans after you eat these. But you know what? They’re worth it. And if someone wants to make out with you now, they’ll still want to make out with you later. Now, pardon me while I go make out with Wonky some more.

Review - Real McCoy's Rice Chips

Brand:  Real McCoy’s All-natural Rice Chips
Flavor:  Sweet n’ Spicy
Where to get it: here @ Amazon.com

I was happy that the bags of these chips were single-serving size, because I could probably eat a much larger quantity of them if someone let me off my leash. The chips are a little thicker and seedier than your typical tortilla chips, and the seasoning on them is SO GOOD. Not too sweet, not too spicy, it’s just so perfect. I ate them plain – delicious. I ate them with salsa – delicious. I ate them with Greek yogurt – delicious. I feel like I could have gone outside and scooped up some dirt with them, and they still would have been delicious. Good thing I had a lot of condiment choices in the house.

Review - Labrada Cinnamon Bun Cookie Roll

Brand:  Labrada
Flavor:  Cinnamon Bun Cookie Roll
Where to get it: here @ Labrada.com

Upon closer inspection, I realized that the wrapper recommended popping this bar into the microwave for 10 seconds. Magically, I was at home when I was intending to try this, so the stars aligned for me and Mr. Labrada's Cinnamon Buns. I really feel that the warmth made this bar unique and delicious. No aftertaste at all, and really great cinnamon bun flavor. ACTUAL cinnamon bun flavor. With frosting. I really, really, REALLY liked this bar. The calories are high, so if you’re counting calories, eat it in thirds, or just eat the whole thing once in a while for a really tasty treat.
If you’ve read any number of my blog posts on these types of bars, I tend to have a really hard time endorsing them. For those keeping track, this is the SECOND Labrada product that actually made me happy. I will be seeking more of them out, because they are tasty treats in a sea of yucky protein garbage bombs.

Review - Frontier Bites

Brand:  Frontier
Flavor:  Pecan Cherry Cinnamon
Where to get it: here @ Frontier Bites

I love, love, LOVE how these are packaged. Little cubes of cinnamon-y goodness, packaged like a bar. Most of the other snacks I have tried like these come in a giant bag, and it’s just a disaster of a free-for-all for people like me who can’t stop crunching. No danger of that here! 5 cubes, perfect snack size, low calories. The cinnamon sets these off so well, it reminds me of cereal, but for sure not as weird as eating dry cereal. (Is it just me, or does eating dry cereal make you feel weird?) These are a great sweet-but-not-too-sweet pick me up for any day, any time.

Review - Hail Merry Raw Almonds

Brand:  Hail Merry
Flavor:  Vanilla Maple Almonds
Where to get it: here @ Hail Merry

The only thing wrong with these almonds is that there aren’t 700 of them in the package. I was so sad when the last one was gone. Slightly sweet, perfectly crunchy, with just a pinch of salt…almonds aren’t even my favorite nut, but these may very well be my favorite nut-based snack. I also really like the packaging, cute design, and the fact that it’s not just another cellophane pouch. I’m glad I had the chance to discover these.

Review - Ratio Cake Batter Protein Bar

Brand:  Ratio
Flavor:  Cake Batter
Where to get it: here @ Bodybuilding.com

I like a lot of the nutritional value/qualities that this bar provides, but calling it “cake batter” just sets it up for a horrible, horrible failure. When I knew nothing about nutrition, nor cared what I put in my body, I would literally make a box of cake mix, and not cook it. That’s right – this is what rock bottom looks like:  a plastic container full of cake batter in your fridge. Yikes. So anyway…you could say I know a thing or two about cake batter, and this is not that. Titular argument aside, it doesn’t really taste very good anyway. So…I guess that’s where I leave you with this one.

Review - Caveman Cookies

Brand:  Caveman Cookies
Flavor:  Mayan and New World
Where to get it: here @ Abe's Market

I love chewy cookies. I think most people do. My person doesn’t though, he will literally take a perfectly good cookie, and put it in the refrigerator with no covering so that it dries out and gets hard. WEIRDO. He would hate these Caveman cookies. They are SO chewy, I actually had a hard time tearing off a little piece to sample. Whatever these folks are doing to achieve this kind of texture, they are doing a great job and I hope they never stop. Taste-wise, I find these to be very unique in a sea of “breakfast/trail/power” cookies. The New World flavor tasted like a more natural, molasses-y (from the maple syrup, I assume) oatmeal cookie.  The Mayan has a bold, slightly bitter chocolate flavor, with a chili powder buddy bringing up the rear. Good little cookies, and if you can get the tiny ones (pictured), they are only 70 calories.
